On October 31, the Athlete Integrity Unit (AIU), the anti-doping body of World Athletics (WA), issued the following ruling regarding female long-distance athlete Tsehai Gemechu (Ethiopia):

● A four-year suspension, effective November 30, 2023
● Disqualification of all records and results from March 22, 2020, to November 30, 2023

In response to this ruling, her results in the Tokyo Marathon 2023 have been annulled, and the official results for the women’s marathon have been updated accordingly.
