A collaboration between art and sports! First challenge for students! Drawing Runner Exhibition
We are introducing works by students (artists) of the Tokyo University of the Arts who painted croquis to depict the runners as they started the race and the atmosphere of the venue during the Tokyo Marathon 2024.
Utai Ito
The assignment to paint 100 pictures in a month on the theme of drawing served me well.
I painted 27 pictures today, and 5 or 6 were good!
It was my first time painting something in motion so I was nervous.
Kei Takahashi
I was able to paint 10 pictures in no time!
It was fun to watch the runners' legs move without thinking.
I was able to paint runners in a short time without looking at my canvas because my eyes and my hand were connected.
The weather was nice so I was able to paint comfortably.
Asuka Nagashima
It was a great experience to be able to paint pictures of actual runners running a marathon.
It was refreshing to see so much information catching my eye, such as first aid workers before the start, the wheelchair runners, and the women runners. It took a long time to paint all in one picture.
Rio Masunaga
I watched the start of a marathon live for the first time and it was really impressive.
I don't have many opportunities to paint people in motion, so it was fun as an artist.
Shohei Wada
It was fun to use acrylic paints,
but I didn't have enough time because my easel fell over, and I couldn't figure out many things because it was my first time to do something like this.
I would love to participate next time too.
