■Design Concept
The design of the Tokyo Marathon 2024 medal features the marathon logo in the center of the medal, encircled by a belt. The spherical shape of the marathon logo evokes the Earth, and represents the 2024 marathon as a gathering of diverse people from all over the world.
The wrapped obi represents the inclusive nature of the medal, which welcomes a wide range of participants, and is reminiscent of the traditional Japanese Temari ball, which symbolizes the wish for good marriage and happiness.
On the reverse side of the medal, the name of the Tokyo Marathon 2024 in Braille and the catchphrase "Tokyo, My Favorite Place..." are engraved. The medal is designed to be unique to this year's Tokyo Marathon.
The medal ribbons feature a design based on the tapestry-like Tokyo Marathon logo, in which each thread represents an individual runner, volunteer, and spectator.
During February 17 (Sat) through February 29 (Thu), the Pure Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be displayed at the following locations.
