Yesterday, the government announced the extension of the state of emergency until September 30 (Thu.). Taking in the full account of this announcement, at the expecting board meeting on September 17 (Fri.), we will make a decision regarding the Tokyo Marathon 2021 and related events (Tokyo Marathon EXPO 2021, Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run 2021, and Tokyo Marathon Family Run 2021), and shall publicly announce the decision soon after the meeting.

To our 2021 registered runners and volunteers, we will send you an email outlining our decision following the board meeting separately.

Also, we will temporarily close the entry to the Tokyo Marathon Friendship Run 2021 in response to the extension of the state of emergency.

We would like to thank our runners, volunteers, and everyone involved in the event for the kind understanding and continuous support. We recognize the overwhelming concern surrounding the present situation, and we will deliver you the details as soon as decided and we thank you for your patience.

Event Cancellation Guideline
1. Due to the situation surrounding COVID-19 and the state of emergency declaration is announced by the government and/or event cancellation is ordered by the municipality within a month prior to the event, the event will be cancelled.
2. Aside from the reason outlined above, the event is subject to cancel due to natural disaster or in a situation in which delivering a safe event is difficult.
