Tokyo Marathon 2020 Registered Runners Residing in the People's Republic of China
Concerning the novel coronavirus that was detected in Wuhan, China, the Japanese Government has announced an entry ban to (1) foreigners who have traveled to Hubei Province in China within 14 days before arriving in Japan, and (2) foreigners who have a Chinese passport issued by Hubei Province.
Due to reduction of flights and travel suspension within People's Republic of China, the travel to Japan may be difficult even if the above restriction is not applicable.
To avoid further distress for Tokyo Marathon 2020 registered runners who are flying through People's Republic of China, the following measures will be available for those who meet the eligibility.
Available Option
Residents of People's Republic of China (according to address registered with us by February 1, regardless of nationality), having the difficulty in flying to Japan, or choosing not to travel will have the option to defer their entry to the following year, Tokyo Marathon 2021.
The entry fee and charity donations will not be refunded (abiding to the Entry Regulations). Runners who have deferred their entry to Tokyo Marathon 2021 are required to pay the entry fees for the 2021 event.
Those runners who purchased the Tokyo Marathon 2020 Signature T-shirt, the item will be shipped to the registered address following the event.
Eligible Runners
The following note applies to all Tokyo Marathon 2020 runners regardless of nationality who reside within the People's Republic of China, and who are absent from the Packet Pick-up (the residency will be determined by the registered address by the date of February 1, 2020).
Note
Eligible runners (as stated above) DO NOT need to inform the Tokyo Marathon Entry Desk to cancel the entry to the Tokyo Marathon 2020. Residents of People's Republic of China who are absent from the Packet Pick-up will have their entry automatically deferred to the following year.
Further information on the entry to the Tokyo Marathon 2021 will be notified individually following the 2020 event.
Depending on further situations, conditions may change. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
