Regarding the Accidental death after emergency transport
during the Tokyo Marathon 2024
During Tokyo Marathon 2024, held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, a runner collapsed near the 21 km mark and was immediately taken to the hospital.
Unfortunately, we received devastating news from the runner's family that he passed away while at the hospital.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and his grieving family during this difficult time.
We extend our deepest condolences to them and may they rest in peace.
Tokyo Marathon Foundation is committed to prioritizing the safety of all participants.
We will continue to implement and strengthen safety measures to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring in the future.
